Sean McColl

Sean McColl is a 35-year-old climber from Vancouver, BC who has been competing in the sport since the age of twelve. With sport climbing added to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Sean made history with his Olympic debut.

Dominating the sport in Canada as a junior athlete, Sean claimed five world youth titles, an unprecedented feat. In the senior ranks, Sean is a four-time overall World Champion, has won five World Cup event titles and has finished on the podium another 23 times. Sean competed on the TV show American Ninja Warrior and hopes to return once again. He also has a Computer Science degree with Honours from British Columbia Institute of Technology.

Sean currently serves on the International Federation of Sport Climbing’s (IFSC) board as the Vice-President after being President from 2012-2020. Through countless presentations to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Sean led the charge for climbing’s inclusion at the Olympic Games. Sean is thrilled to continue representing Sport Climbing on the global stage and pushing for its permanent inclusion in the Olympics.
